Sealed Lead Acid batteries
are one of the oldest types of rechargeable batteries. They offer sealed construction
preventing electrolyte leakage in any orientation.
This provides for safe and efficient operation. SLA batteries are usually
classified
as "non-spillable" meaning they will meet all requirements of the
International Air Transport Association (I.A.T.A. Dangerous Goods Regulations).
SLA batteries are typically sold as 6 volt or 12 volt batteries, and are most commonly used for UPS (uninterruptable power supplies), alarm systems, medical equipment, and emergency lighting. They offer maintenance free operation, meaning there is no need to add water.
